Our Summer Bucket List

Last year, my teenager made a summer bucket list with her best friend. I thought it was cute, but didn’t pay too much attention to it. This year, I have been hearing all kinds of things about summer bucket lists.

I thought it would be fun to make one with my kids, so we all sat down together. They told me their summer dream plans, and I wrote them down. I don’t know if we will get to all of them, and some of them I am pretty sure we won’t do, but here is our summer bucket list:

  • Plant a garden
  • Go get ice-cream
  • Go to the candy store
  • Go to Six Flags
  • Go to Disneyland
  • Make s’mores
  • Go camping
  • Go swimming
  • Go to Monterey, CA
  • Go to San Francisco
  • Go out for frozen yogurt
  • Go to the beach
  • Have a BBQ at the pool
  • Eat pizza at the park
  • Visit the kids former daycare lady
  • Go hiking
  • Go to the lake
  • Walk to the park
  • Go to the zoo
  • Go to the Roseville Galleria
  • Go on a picnic
  • Go to the movies
  • Go exploring
  • Go bird watching
  • Go bowling
  • Go miniature golfing
  • Have a family game night
  • Have a family movie night
  • Go to the drive-in movies
  • Go to the library
  • Visit the nursing home

And my teenager, always the joker, suggested that we get poison oak. I really hope that doesn’t happen. I’m putting that on the anti-bucket list!!! I think she was tired of playing along and hearing all her siblings suggestions. Teens can be a little “too cool” and sarcastic sometimes. But I love her and she makes life interesting, that’s for sure.

I’d like to be able to travel as much as you have it on your bucket list!

Well I highly doubt we will get to everything! I just included whatever the kids said. For example, Disney isn’t in the plans! But Six Flags is because we have free tickets. As for the other places….SF is only about an hour away so very possible. Monterey is a long shot but still a possibility. And we can be at the beach in a couple hours too 🙂 we like to be outdoors and travel. I’d rather travel than buy new things, lol. Probably why I still don’t have curtains in my house 😉

We haven’t made an official Summer Bucket List, but I feel like we’ve really begun to kick the Summer off unlike any other Summer we’ve had B.T. (Before Travis). I can’t begin to tell you how much of a difference my love has made for me and my teenage son.

I’m definitely going to have to make a bucket list for us, not only for the summer, but again when the weather cools down. I know there are a ton of things I’d like to do with my family.

Your list sounds great!! If I was a member of your family, I’d definitely be happy with what’s on the list, even if we weren’t able to tackle them ALL. I wish we lived way closer. It’s too bad I’m across the country.

I think this summer is going to fun. Most summers are, but I think I will feel more productive now that I have a list I can check things off of 🙂

You should totally make one! And then blog about it. I am planning on linking to posts about any of these activities that we do, so I will be taking lots of pictures!

Ooh! That’s a good idea. Post a list and then link to it. This has been the best summer by far for us. I guess I can be retroactive with my list!

A summer bucket list sounds better than a “Bucket List”, you know what I mean? A Bucket List implies you haven’t got long to live, so it’s time to cram all you can into your short life. I may create my own summer bucket list sometime. Good idea! I’m hopping from Friendship Friday. It’s nice meeting you today. Have a good weekend and I hope you’ll stop by to read Meet my grandparents, Part V on Curious as a Cathy!

I like this summer bucket list idea! I should have made one of these with mine when they were all home and in the nest. We lived out our summers at the pool though, and that’s where they were happiest, so I guess we sort of fulfilled their bucket list.
Mine is just to STAY COOL. lol.
Thanks for sharing with Dance with Jesus link up! Cool idea!

Great idea and most of them seem very doable. I am trying to learn to slow down, have real life time with friends and go zip lining. I am keeping the list short. Blessed you shared this at The Weekend Brew.
