Baby Bumble Bee

This whole pregnancy, bees have been buzzing on my mind. For the first time, we did a gender reveal cake and pictures to let our other children and friends and family know what we were having. I ordered the cake from Nugget Markets bakery-they have THE BEST cakes and if you live in or around the Sacramento, CA area you’re missing out if you’ve never been there. On the cake they wrote “What’s It Going To Bee?” and on the inside put pink frosting for our little girl.

Sticking with the bumble bee theme, I found this super cute baby blanket pattern on Pinterest that I am going to start working on this week. I just hope to get it done in the next 3 weeks before baby arrives. Then I have some pretty tall orders from my other little’s for what they want mom to crochet for them. At least I’ll “bee” busy!

And it is good that yellow is a gender neutral color, because even though they say the baby is a girl, my son is convinced that it will be a boy. I think it’s probably wishful thinking because he wants a brother so bad, but I know ultrasounds have been wrong before, so we shall see.

Next week my husband and I will be stripping and re-painting a baby cradle that we got for FREE! I am planning on painting it a creamy white color with little bumble bees buzzing all over it. Look for pictures here in the next week or two. Although we’ve never done anything like that before, so fingers crossed that it will turn out how we are hoping!

What do you think of the bumble bee theme? Did you have a theme when you were expecting? Let us know in the comments!

I love the bumble bee theme! We had a teddy bear theme in honor of my Grandfather who passed before our first was born. {His name was Teddy} I went overboard, but feel like it was worth it since we have used the same bedding and other decor with all 3 of our kids. Wish I had the talent to even attempt that adorable blanket and cap! Too cute

I love being able to pass things down and use them for more than one kid. Unfortunately I usually go through a major decluttering phase when my babies are about 1, but then end up regretting it when I get pregnant again. But at least I know that some other family has been blessed by our things.

I love bumble bees! My oldest daughter (now 19, good grief!) had a bumble bee theme when she was a baby. There are heaps of gorgeous bee items around – and that blanket is beautiful!

    • Miranda Gonzalez

Yep, bumble bees are so cute for little babies!

The blanket is sooo cute!! I have never crocheted before and have kinda given away hand work for this season of my life… may need to reevaluate that decision!

For our first baby we had an owl thing happening (cute owls… not halloweenish) but that didn’t last too long. Then it was ladybirds for the 1st birthday. That said I’m not too good at themes so it’s all a bit sporadic.

I love how your children have crochet requests for you and there interest in the new bubs… my eldest was 13months old when our current youngest was born… I’m looking forward to having older children in future pregnancies God willing.

Found you at Darling Downs Diaries… Blessings!

I learned to crochet when I was younger from my grandma, but just took it up again about 2 years ago. I love creating things with my hands! And it is really cool how my kids like it so much, too. I hope to be able to teach them in a year or two.
